rice boys are so funny, they invest $5000 into their car to add 200lbs of body kit which also adds a bunch of wind resistance(specially the ones that flap when they're going fast because they dont even know how to secure them properly), a big spoiler that adds uneaded down force, an exhaust system that isn't even needed unless they had a big deisel, and a bunch of useless parts that get their car to peak at about 220 hp..... which i can build an engine for $5000 that will make my car, that looks cool stock, run with about 400hp.... it just really doesn't make since to me... and dont even get me started on the "bling"
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Gee, looking at it that way it looks like; keep trying to get it right over and over vs getting it right the first time, every time......................

Shawnlee28,you forgot about the LS6 in a Chevelle and the GNX Regal both of which where faster in the 1/4 mile than any Ford.
When geared correctly the only Ford that would run with either car was an AC Cobra and I really would not call it a "Factory Car".
The big difference was you could get the LS6 Chevelle or the GNX Regal very easily and for the AC Cobra you would have to wait a long time.
Some of the engines you talk about are not very common.
Are you still laughing now ?? And are you still confused ??

While I don't necessarily disagree with your comments about those two GM car, you must not have been around in real time for the Cobra. There wasn't much of a wait at all, at least in the major markets. In fact, I remember seeing new 427 Cobras on dealer show room floors a full year after production stopped. It actually took a few years before the "mania" took hold.

I love Chevies, but I've seen many wave bye-bye to Hemi taillights.

Something that ran mid to high 12's right off the showroom floor on skinny bias ply tires definitely got my attention and respect.

Small town cop in an adjoining town to ours had a Dodge with a big Hurst 4 speed shifter poking out of the floor. The Sheriffs in some of those small towns were able to convince the city fathers they needed high performance pursuit cars. He would never tell us what was under the hood, but we sort of knew it was a 426 max-wedge.

One night I am racing another GTO in my tripower '66, and as we leave the line on the 4 lane we see this cop in his Dodge coming the other way. He hits the lights and I take off. I am running flat out, not one more mph left in the Goat, and the speedo is pegged below the 120 mark, so I am doing about 130. My buddy in the passenger seat tells me I better get moving because the cop is gaining on me. All I could do was watch his headlights getting closer to me as I was trying to escape. Finally, I saw a two lane road turn off of the 4 lane and flipped onto it. I finally was able to get away, but only because the GTO cornered better that that big Dodge. If I had stayed on the 4 lane he would have gotten up to me for sure. I still have a whole lot of respect for Mopars.

How in the world do you expect them to get enough down force on the rear wheels so they get maximum traction if they do not have the big spoiler?? Oh wait they have front wheel drive don't they.
