One thing to check is rotation - some marine engines have reverse rotation. This is not a big thing - except the camshaft, starting motor, water pump and possibly the distributor & wiring need to be changed to correct rotation for a car. If you don't, you may have a 4 speed reverse, and a 1 speed forward transmission (slow)

These are supposedly the strongest "high nickle" engines tho Ford denies any difference.
