as far as i know, you should have no problem doing so, but you're going to have to get aftermarket idlers where the smog pumps should mount and such things like that... they do make them for racing, they cost about $100 for the idler.... but yeah you should have no problem, i was actually planning to do the same with my 302... seeing that aftermarket kits are from $1000 and up.... the only thing i'm not too sure about is the power steering bracket, i dont know if your pump will fit it or anything of the such, if thats the case, you could go with the new pump and use some hose adaptors
