I have a 72 Mach 1 Mustang 302 when you step on the gas from a stop it stumbles you have to let up and step on it again. I figured Accelerator valve replaced same (rebuilt carb)still doing it. Is there somthing else I should look at?? I figured Accelerator valve replaced same (rebuilt carb)still doing it. Is there somthing else I should look at??Charlie

What hole are you in on the pump arm? Try moving it in to the closest hole and see if that helps. Make sure your vacuum advance is working and that your timing is advanced far enough. Fords seem to like a little more initial advance IMO.

I have to agree with Itoldyouso. I had the same problem with a 73 mavrick I got.
It did the same thing, It would flood at first when you would hit the gas and almost stall.
Then you would take your foot out of it, then press the gas down again and it would take off smoking the tires. The accelerator pump rod was out to far and when I pulled it in, It fixed the problem. Pull that rod in some, I bet like Don said, it's flooding the car out when you first take off.
