    I have to agree with Itoldyouso. I had the same problem with a 73 mavrick I got.
    It did the same thing, It would flood at first when you would hit the gas and almost stall.
    Then you would take your foot out of it, then press the gas down again and it would take off smoking the tires. The accelerator pump rod was out to far and when I pulled it in, It fixed the problem. Pull that rod in some, I bet like Don said, it's flooding the car out when you first take off.

    OK guys took carb back off went through everything but this time I checked the passages . The passage from the acc.pump was blocked had a heck of a time getting it opened up.. After talking the the owner he said the car had been sitting 5 yrs. but didn't think that would mater. Thanks for the advice I'll put it in the back of my mind for futher use. Thanks again
