    how about a nissan SR20... very reliable, and theres tons of aftermarket on them the 4GE puts out around 110HP while the SR20 puts out 160.... that'd be the cheaper way to go.... if you're willing to dump a lil more money.... you could get one of those subaru WRX motors and get around 250HP, along with the ability to use an all wheel drive transmission... now that'd be a fun project
