    blown vs. injected

    Hi there,

I am wanting to build a high performance street engine. I am wanting to have a 500 ci mopar block, and I would like it alcohol injected, but not blown. i dont want to run a blower...is this possible? I cant find any info online...thanks!

    Welcome to CHR Doug

Yes injection without a blower is very possible.
For a street application tho..... Mechanical injection is very impractical.
Alcohol as a fuel on the street is also very impractical. Where would you fill up? Also mileage with an alcohol set up would be ....... let's say not good.

An electronic fuel injection set-up on pump gas would be your best bet for a street motor. That is doable, very reliable, responsive, easy starting.

I agree fully with Proz28 on this. With a alcohol engine you need to run aproximately double the fuel as compared to gas. Flip side being good power numbers and less detonation prone. That being said its more of a track setup then a street setup because of fuel needs. With a 500 inch stroker like I am currently building 10.5:1 compression, single plane, solid cam, mildly ported alluminum heads and decent headers I am figuring in the 600 to 650 HP range on pump gas. If I run fuel injection I might even be able to get 10-12 MPG (doubt it but I can dream).

By the way welcome to CHR.

I failed to mention, a top shelf EFI set up just might cost more than the engine, depending on how crazy you get with the build.
