    What cam to use?

Doin a 350 swap in my s10. Lookin for 350-375 horse with 3:55 gears. What would be the best cam for both power and better gas mileage as this will remain a daily driver?

you'l have to supply compression ratio type of heads and if the heads have a good quench area. What type of exhaust system? stock manifolds? headers? what diameter exhaust pipes and mufflers to lower back pressure. These all dictate what cam and what sort of torque/horsepower you can run. I do have a cam in mind but I will have to know the above information.

Well......you can forget POWER & Gas Mileage in a cam for a 350, any change is just that.
A stock 350 is more than your bargining for in a S-10 for power, it's going to seem like a lot more than you think. You don't get any fuel saving's if you can't hook & cook, just more tire expense.
    Good Luck.....

Ok, the motor is a 77' 350 and I am most likely goin to stay with the stock heads, for now. The block is gettin punched 30 over and everything else, God willing, will remain close to the same. Like I said, not looking to blow the doors off people but at the same time, not lose mine to an eclipse with a 7" muffler tip and neon lights. I'm gonna keep the current exhaust (2 1/2" Flowmaster 3 chamber), only when the swap is in, I'm goin true dual. Fortunatly, I have a good excuse to spend more money since s10 swaps require headers, (same diameter), unless i cut the hell out of my fender wells. Who wouldn't do headers in this case anyway?! So pretty much, mostly stock motor with good compression, little beefier of a cam, but also one that can cope with head and intake upgrades. By no means is this gonna be a drag s10 that would be unbearable to cruise in on the Power Tour. The main reason I ask is that I'm good with motors up until the point of cam specs. I never have quite mastered that so here I am.

With the heads remaining stock, you will be lucky to get 250 hp, no matter what cam you install.
Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

    350

Sorry for the confusion. 350-375 is what I want for an end product. I know a stock 350 doesn't put near that out. I still can't make up my mind on going stock at first and saving a few bucks, or go for the heads, intake, and bigger cam to get the end product. The more I think about it, the more inclined I am to just do it all and not worry about it. I guess my main reason behind the original question was if I go stock at first, what would be a nice healthy cam.? If anyone has a definite build on a 350 that can punch the horsepower out and have the compression I'm looking for (9 or higher), I'm all ears. Unfortunatly, I worked on 5.0's for so long that I know more Ford tips than Chevy.

I would suggest you fill out, completely and accurately, a couple of the cam manufaturer's cam selection data sheets. Go with their reccomendations, they're the experts on cams and related components.

Big10, To me. it sounded like you were trying to make 375 HP with a stock engine by adding a cam.
Need to know the whole package.

Yup, again, sorry for the confusion. There are a whole butt load of factors goin into this build such as finances, work, and most of all emissions. I move around a good bit and right now I'm having to deal with Colorado emissions. Don't ask me how that 2.8 passed this year but I hate the whole emissions deal. That's why I'm still undecided on stock at first or built. Either way, I'll be happier than stayin with the lowsy six i got now.
