Just a bigger stroke in a 400 small block... Good for a bit more torque in a heavier car..... Most will require a small base circle cam, I believe....

A 427 SB is a HD block with 4.126 bore and 4.000 stroke . The 434 SB is a 4.156 bore with a 4.000 stroke . And the Big Dog is the 468 SB HD block 4.186 bore with a 4.250 stroke . But you will see more of the 427s or 434s .

Like a Dart or World block . The HD Blocks can be bored more and are stronger every were . You can spray them with NOS and not break them in half so easy . You would run rods that are made with clearances for large ci SB Builds . This is a high doller engines . A 434 short block kit with a Dart block will cost $4000.00 Bucks .

I doubt you can build an engine with all the good pieces and that level of performance for much less...let alone have a warranty with it.....

and that same 10 grand will almost build the short block for my Ranchero.... Guess it all depends on what you want and how bad you want it..... If you're willing to settle for less, fine. If not, if you're going to play, you're going to pay. How much you pay depends on how good a player you want to be!!!!
