    Phase one Bowtie head combos

Well heres what I got.1970 Monte Carlo , a rebuilt turbo 350 ,3000 stall, a 40,000 mile 78 corvette engine currently dissassembled to the short block edelbrock rpm intake. The motor appears to be in good , very clean condition. As of Sunday I should have a set of iron phase one 2.05/1.60 cyl heads set-up for a solid cam.My car will be 90% cruise , 10% strip.I would appreciate any comments or flaws pointed out to me as well as some feedback on the iron bowtie heads.I plan on running a 3.90 gear and a 28" tire.

My buddy has a set of old camel hump heads on his monte (86) with 2 05, 1.6's in it. Im not so sure what your asking but yes it will breathe fine in my opinion. If your worried about something like that then dont be, or get them ported and polished so they will flow a little better. I think the stall is fine for what your gonna run, around here we will even run 3600 stalls, it seems to work out great. It depends on where you think your gonna make your power, since your going with a dual plane intake im guessing your aiming at torque? Well your monte actually isnt a "light car". I think thats a good idea based on the weight of it. In my opinion you could even go with more gear, people always tell me no way but i run 4. 56's and drive mine to the track at 60, 28.1 inch tire, and run about 3200 there. What kind of solid cam? I run lunati and have had no problems really with these cams. Well good luck.

I totally understand your aggrivation at the Old Geezers group for their often condesending attitudes, and sometimes sarcastic not so-helpful responses to questions- but in this case, to give you a good answer you really do need to give some more info on your setup before anyone can give a good answer....

Exactly what "bowtie" heads are you talking about?

If they are good old camel hump 64cc heads, they are good heads after porting and big valves, but they are definitely not the best in the universe.

WIth a fairly mild solid cam and good 64cc heads with those gears and a 3k stall, you will be EASILY running with your friends in the 13's.

A firend of mine has a basic 350 with vortech's and a Comp XE262 Hydraulic cam, 3.42 gears and a 2200 stall and he is pushing high 13s in his 69 chevelle. and that is still a very mild cam.

With a more agressive cam, stall, & gears- I'm sure you would be edging in on the 12's.

Upstand, let me see if I've got this straight. You're the new guy here. You don't know the member's of this site, yet you're willing to shoot your mouth off if you don't get spoon fed exactly what you want. Ever been in a place, say a party, or a bar, or whatever, and in comes some self centered lout running his mouth like he's the king of the room? Nobody there knows him, but they sure know how they feel about him. Before you let your petulance get the better of you, you may want to take your own advice.

Upstand, you do owe tech an apology. After reading everything in the thread, I have no idea where you're coming from. I am pretty sure Bob has spelled it out in a way that anyone can understand, so it's time to look in the mirror.

Show respect to people here and you'll get a lot of respect back, and the answers you need.

You should by the way, answer everything Tech asked, as that would be beneficial information regardless of whether you use a computer to assist in determining whether you are going in the right or wrong direction with parts....It probably will save you a lot of money and time since you won't be wasting it on parts that yeild little return.

Im using 350 big valve heads on my 327 i drive it every day with a real wild cam. to school and then to work. i also have a edelbrock rpm intake with a 5 in. lift on the 600 cfm carb. it runs great and when i want the power then i have it if i just wont to putt putt around town i can do that too. i love the big valve 350 vette heads on it they add a lot of hp.
