Should I run an electric fuel pump, or a mechanical fuel pump?

What would be involved in putting a mechanical fuel pump, on my engine? I don't want to have to touch the cam, I heard you had to put something on the end of a fuel injected cam, in order to run a mechanical fuel pump? Is this true?

Cheers........
I will assume you are talking about a fuel pump cam eccentric.I would run an aftermarket electric fuel pump with a regulator.
