Got the pistons right. Now I have a seven cylinder short block. Broke a ring on installation of the last piston. Dammit all.

Luckily you found it before you fired it up.
My valves came in. Just stock replacements, nothin fancy. Guides are a hair on the loose side, but the seats look fantastic, so they are gonna get a good lap job, get the spring height right and go together. I decided to use the 911-16 Comp spring instead of the dual spring recommended. The single spring is right on the money with the dual spring specs, requires no head machining and also doesn't have the inner spring which is required to be removed during camshaft break in. Only talkin about .522 lift hear and the 911 will take .625, so I think we're safe. Pictures to come, I promise.
you can resize the valve guides
Doesn't it always seem like the tighter the budget, the more stuff goes wrong.
Yes, I know and that may be what I will do. Thanks!
We have a short block. I am too hot and sweaty. Will post pics in a bit.
Latest pictures as promised. Not sure about the heads yet. Two places I don't like cutting corners. The crankshaft area and the heads. That's why I got good ARP rod bolts and had the rods resized. Of course we all know how important the heads are, so I may have bronze guide liners installed. I am going to borrow a guide knurl and reamer and try a few first and see. As few miles as this engine will see a year, knurled guides will be fine, as long as they come into spec. Thanks for lookin.
I forgot to post this picture. This is a 1956 Chrysler 331 Hemi I built for my 49 Dodge Truck rat rod project. Just thought I would show it off. lol
Wish we were closer-----------well we did have a cabin near Blue Ridge, but none of my STUFF there altho we are searching possibilites these days-------
You try - then it's up to him.
I just had a major FAIL trying to help a vet who contacted my VFW post. It breaks my heart, but I just have to take comfort that I gave it a good effort.
I sure do hate that. We do at least speak. Probably four or so times a month. His problem is, even at 28, he cannot tell the truth, and about the simplest of things. So our conversations consist of "hay hope you are well, love you, bye". Of course there's a bit more, but that's the gist of it. I don't ask about his lifestyle, because I know I will get a lie.
Onto more cheery things. I installed the camshaft and timing set. Much to my surprise, the cam bearings were in straight and true and the camshaft turns easily. At least I did one thing right. lol I have the Comp billet race timing set. They cost over a hundred bucks, but to me, timing is THAT important, even on a stock engine. They have the crank gear with nine keyways, so I will be using the degree wheel shortly.
