Progress is GOOD, I always enjoy seeing another old HEMI getting ready to get a new home.
I really was going to wait until you started your new build thread before I started asking questions.......but
Looks like you found an overdrive version of an A833.
Whats the bell housing off of? It looks like it's set up for a hydraulic slave cylinder?
.
It's standard ZBar fodder. The whole transmission and bellhousin came off an 83 D150 that had a tick over 60K on it and was totaled out. I actually found the transmission on the local Craigslist. Went to meet the guy in the WalMart parkin lot and low and behold, it was somebody I knew! LOL And yes, it is the overdrive unit. That's what I originally was lookin for. Sorry I am draggin my feet on the rat rod thread. I don't have any pictures of it on this computer and my other one is dead so I am going to just take some new ones. Soon as I do I will start the thread.
That transmission is getting very hard to find now! Very nice!

Can't tell from the picture, but if it's the one with the cast iron main case instead of aluminum, those were always hard to find (I got really lucky and scored a cast iron case one for my 57 Plymouth when I built it).
The aluminum ones were had a tendency to crack cases under spirited driving. Most of the aluminum ones I came across also used the smaller output shaft and 904 style style slip yolk.
.
Timing cover and oil pan affixed. Short block complete. Word to the wise. DO NOT purchase the ProForm crankshaft socket that holds a degree wheel for the big block. It's total junk. The set screw has to be way over tightened to keep the socket from moving around. So much so that I stripped it out. It's only aluminum, so I should have known better. Borrowed a friend's Moroso piece and finished degreeing the cam. Funny thing. It was dead on the money dot to dot. 103 intake center line, just like it should be.
Then the timing set wasn't lipstick on a pig after all.
No. In fact, I sorta proved my own advice to people about timing sets. I prefer to use the same brand timing set as the camshaft and to use a good, if not best level of timing set from that same company. In this case it was Comp Cams. I have found that by using parts from the same manufacturer, the room for error is decreased.
Lookin' good!
Movin slow. Got the oil filter and fuel pump on. Next will be starter and flex plate. And I GUESS I will start on the heads after that. lol
More progress. Flex plate and starter. Oil filter. Will prime it soon and finish the heads. Then, intake, carburetor and distributor. Will find "some kinda" old big block headers and bust it off right on the stand and do the cam break in.
A step at a time right? It's all good progress.
My little fat motor is gettin sexy.
Some mock up.
