The motor runs good, but is basically out of air arouind 4500 rpm's

The motor has a stock 4 bolt block with stock rods etc..
A very mild cam was added with a aluminum duel plane intake and holley carb. I plan on going to a slightly more agressive prifile on the cam, 2" hooker comp headers and of course the better oval port heads. I want to be able to drive this around on pump gas like a daily driver, but of course it will not be driven daily.
I don't think 500 horse power would be too hard to get out of a 468 even with some very mild mods....
You are going to make some torque with your motor with any open head. Those will choke out as you said at 4500 rpms which is fine for a truck motor. To make the power you want I'd try giving these people a call. www.FelberRacing.com
