12 to 1 is to high for 91 octane right. I had a small block with 12 to 1 and ran it on 91 but couldnt pull much with out it spark nocking.

142973 srp 9.0 to 8.3 112to124 head cc . 212143 srp 10.9to9.8 112to124 head cc . 140683 srp 13.9 to 12.1 112 to124 head cc all 1.395 and will work with a tall deck 525 with 400 long rod and 4.500 stroke crank. why would you spend all this money and run pump gas? try 10 to1 would all i would try is 91 fuel

so will any piston make (wisco, mahle, ect) with a 1.395 will work or just a srp. If so that would be great. What make of piston do you prefer for an engine like this.

You dont have to by custom pistons. Ross has them down to 1.2??. So I could run longer rods and wouldnt that be easyer on my cylinders.

you could run the 6.700 rod pin 1.250 so the 1.200 would work if you deck it. on the rod 6.800 pin 1.150 why ? tell me why you think this ?? less piston the harder it is to keep the ring s on the walls and the more weigh there is in the mass more money to balances it you can spend a $1000 just to get something balances if it needs mallory metal in the crank. have been there . joe look i guess i can not help you ? all i have tried to keep you going down the road were you will not spend more money and not see much from it. but you do what . there are more than one way to go. but i have been there so if i tell you a 400 rod. this is it. this is the best way to go. the affordable way . this is the way i think .on this you will not see the longer rod help you . i think them pistons you are looking at are a bit more than 600 a set ?? any thing i put down in this post i have done. not seen or read or on tv somewhere. a lot of my bigblock do not get dyno. BUT they get ran very hard .so if i think you need a longer rod i would told you get them.

Well thank you and hopefully I will have the time and money to come to your shop. I am short on cash again because my tranny went out in my truck. 700R4 are junk, waste of time, that is my third one. Not in that truck though. Thanks again.
