    ford aod

have an aod transmission behind a 302. when starting out, it seems to shift to second almost immediately after car begins moving. not a complaint really, just seems odd. also, when shifting into 4th, it doesnt want to shift til i hit about 50 mph or so, and then it shifts and all is well. neither of these "problems" present a driveability issue for me, they just annoy me to some extent, but not so much i want to take transmission out of the car. the rearend is an 8 in ford of unknown year and gearing, but they are very hiway freindly. it is a carb'd motor and the transmission is not computer controlled. is there some kind of linkage/vacuum/modulator issue i should be looking at?

The AOD only uses a T.V.Cable for adjustment it is critical that it be set correctly or it will grenade itself,so set it A.S.A.P. Here are two good sources for AOD information www.becontrols.com and www.clickclickracing.com when you get to the be site you may want to click on Products, these parts are reasonable and will improve your AOD,part#'s RK-AOD and BV-1.4th gear is overdrive, it should shift between 45-50 MPH under normal acceleration depending on gear ratio. The 1-2 shift will improve with the RK-AOD kit.

thanks for the info. seems easy enough. i see in your info spot you have basically the same car as me. do you get a ton of body roll or lean when cornering? this is my first car of the 50's, and sometimes it feels like the door handles are the only thing keeping it from rolling completely over. over exaggeration i know, but what have you done to correct that. or have you been able to.
