Double check the thrust slop in the main shaft. If a Saginaw is loose or even a tad loose it won't allow smooth transition into the gears because it's taking the force of your shifting it to preload the next gear to slide it into position. Front shimming should take care of the problem being careful not to move the whole shaft as an assembly too far off of it's contact point with the counter shaftWhat if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
