well either way it needs to be rebuilt by you or a shop sounds like you broke somethin if its grinding. but i've blown out lip seals that causes them to slip never ever had i heard grinding from an automatic my guess is its a planetary gear set that broke. but as far as manual trans. ive broke u-joints, driveshafts, an internal damage making grinding noises. when i'm on it i'm on it an shifting hard an fast winding the motor out. usually lay rubber in first an chirp the tires in the rest 4spd 5spd front wheel drive an rear i can do it the tranny's don't like me though
