HELP I think I grenaded my tranny

Well, its a nice day out and I got the great idear of going and leaving some round rubber, bad idea. Anyway its a Ford Falcon, hot 200cid, ford c4 3sp auto. On that final fateful donut I heard it slip and then grind so I called it quits and now its grinding and slipping like mad. What do you all think? I have NO idea on transmissions haha.

Any help would be appreciated.

C4's in stock configuration are not the strongest tranny to start with. Your's is now history.

Its already been rebuilt professionally. Is this something I can figure out how to do? Or do I need to take it back to the shop?

I had a 1971 Monte Carlo with a mild 350 TH350 12 Bolt . I would do these 3000 to 4000 RPM Neutral Drops Man that car would burn them tires 100' FT . Well one day that TH350 said no more and went to Lunch My Brother thoght it was funny . He said his OLDs Cutlass TH400 was un-breakable . Well in a way he was right but his driveshaft was not Its alway a lot of fun till you break something

Some people would attempt it themselves, but I have never been inside one in my life..........too many little parts for me.

well either way it needs to be rebuilt by you or a shop sounds like you broke somethin if its grinding. but i've blown out lip seals that causes them to slip never ever had i heard grinding from an automatic my guess is its a planetary gear set that broke. but as far as manual trans. ive broke u-joints, driveshafts, an internal damage making grinding noises. when i'm on it i'm on it an shifting hard an fast winding the motor out. usually lay rubber in first an chirp the tires in the rest 4spd 5spd front wheel drive an rear i can do it the tranny's don't like me though

automactic tranny's are fairly easy lots an lots of parts to keep track of though. they work off hydrolic pressure an the way they shift its kinda hard to explain but they have clutch packs alot like a motor cycle or dirt bike clutch. they have a metal disc then a clutch disc then a metal so on an so on all inside a drum with usually 3 drums (clutch packs) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and reverse. the bands, valvebody and planetary gears come into play for how it shifts an works. but if you want to rebuild it yourself i'd buy a book on your tranny an go step by step an double or triple check your work an if you do enough of them you remember it all an take them apart an back together in like 4hrs like me with TH350's i've rebuilt around 20 of them for me my friends family an guys like my brother in law that has a tranny leak an drives with it til it slips an burns it up $$$$$$$$

fairly certain. i thought rear end at first too but i dropped it into neutral while i was driving and it stopped grinding so im pretty sure its the trans.

From my own experience in dismantling something I've neverdone before and have wanted a reasonable chance at having it work right when it was put back together...take lots of PHOTOS, step-by-step, of your dismantle(even better if you have a video camera to record everything). Countless times I've done this for myself be it working on various parts and pieces of a car to re-furbishing 2 spd winches on a sailboat(I swear there are more little parts, springs, roller bearings, gears, shafts, etc. in an Anderson sailboat winch than there are in some car transmissions:0). Just a tip that works for me.
