most all of the tremecs have a good rep. you can pick one out based on your HP. i started with a 3-speed auto, but went with my original choice of a 5-speed manual. it sure helps with the gas mileage and noise. the tranny is a little noisey, but it just feel really solid.
Yes sir, the name has changed, they upgraded the old 3550 to handle 600ft lbs of torque and gave it a new name, TKO500 and TKO600. From the outside it is hard to tell the models apart, but the main chages were done internally to strengthen the 3550 design. jimig@standardtransmission.com
