played with my tranny governor last night shift points are low and also the electric kickdown not always working. thought i would first start with the governor. took too much off the weights and realized the old caddy engine would go to the moon before i would get into 3rd gear, 1st 2nd was perfect at 4400 4500 rpm.
got 2 more governors to play with just wish i had room to take the darned thing out to change it, have to remove the mount and drop the tranny every time as tunnel room is about 3/4 inch one of the governors is from a 454 truck with same gearing as my rod so it might help a bit.i just want the shift points a bit higher 200 to 300 rpm but want the 1-2-3 auto shift operate properly as it actually works really good at the track

what exactly does the kickdown switch accomplish on a 400 tranny? i know full pressure to the tranny causing 2nd gear to kick in, but the tranny must also generate full pressure while under load as how could one haul a heavy load under 3/4 thottle without burning it out .
mine seem to work and then not, checked power and its always got the voltage. hope i dont have to drop the pan and change the solenoid
