    flex plate ford 302 question/help

    Ok heres the problem.
    i have a 51 ford victoria with a 302 eng and a c/6 trans

i had to go thur the engine,i had marked the end of the crank to index the flex plate to the crank, also had marked the converter studs to the flex plate.

everything was going great, sent the crank out to the machine shop to get it checked, machine shop said it only needed polishing that was great and they would vat the block and install new cam bearings. i said ok and everything was looking good.

while that was going on with the machine shop i decided to send the trans out to get freshened up so there would be no problems down the road.

Well" the machine shop removed my index mark on the crank !!
the trans. shop besides rebuilding replaced the converter. so now i have no index marks to go by.

what i would like to know is there any way to know where the weight on the flex plate should be in relation to the keyway on the harmonic balancer on the front of the crank??????????????????????????????????

any help would be greatley appreciated.

Your crank holes should be drilled so that the flex plate only can go one way. You have to put it up in place and keep spinning it til all the holes line up perfectly. When all the bolts will go in, you are automatically indexed.
