that's a hard question to answer, I doubt you'll get a square yes or no. Nitrous is a touchy subject that can either help you or hurt you in the snap of the fingers, and sometimes if you aren't very very careful with it, it can hurt things very violently.
I built an LS6 for a guy once that blew the bellhousing off of his original LS2. It took the rear section of the block out. He was running a 200 shot.
I would say better safe than sorry. I'd rather spend the extra dollars now and know that it will be okay than cross my fingers and pray, because in the event that your converter does balloon, it's a long way in to fix the problems it could potentially create.
