All Geared up, with no way to go!

I have a 1966 Ford F-100 w/ 352 and a three on the tree. I was at our local hot rod car cruise last night when I decided to stop for a stretch break. When I was ready to go again my clutch pedal hit the floor, I thought that the return spring had slipped off the pedal but I was wrong. I got out of the truck and checked to see if I had any fluid or auto parts lying under the truck and I found what looks like a metal crayon. What is it, where does it go, and did I blow my clutch? Please help.

Sounds like the push rod out of the clutch linkage.... Goes from the linkage to the clutch fork.

Just put the clutch rod back in place and adjust the clutch linkage so it doesn't fall out again. If you're not certain of clutch adjustment procedures, might be best to check a Chilton's or Cloye's manual as improper adjustment will smoke the clutch in short order!!!!

Don't hold your breath on the mustang deal Dave. I'd hate to see you turn "oval" blue.

Jas.....the 64 to 66 f 100 had a geometry mis match. To resolve it they put a hole in both the Z-bar attacthments at the rod you're referring to. It is for a spring to tighten up the slack on the rod. Not for tension or clutch adjustment, but to keep the silly thing in place when adjustment fell out of spec. If you don't have these holes, drill them and get the spring or one strong enough. I have owned three of these things (mid 60's f 100) and since I have had customers with the same complaint (c'mon, I can't have total hands on when thier trucks are in their driveway), I have had to resort to keeping things in place so I can drive it without finding the rod on the ground when I need to go to work or where ever. Then set the free play and travel where you're comfortable.
