It,s hard to say what to do because I am not right there looking at it. But from what you decribed you have quite a problem there.What ever you do be real carefull at this point . If the spring is still under pressure it still could snap out again .try using tie straps to hold it in place and a crowbar or pipe to loosen it . BE CAREFULL!!! get some help and stay out of the way if the spring cuts loose . You have to get it out now you have no choice. Good luck , take your time and think about what you are doing before you jump into it.You should be able to get it out.
