    Dodge Transmission Slipping

My son asked me to ask Y'all if you had any idea what would cause his automatic transmission on his 2001 Dodge Truck to slip and jump when turning to the left at slow speeds. It doesn't do it when he's slowly turning right or when it's moving at highway speeds. NO IT AIN'T A HOT ROD but "we" know where the qualified answers are so I'm posting it here. TIA, Em

More than likely he needs to service it and that's what I told him so let's table MY "inquiry" until he at least gets that done. Then, if it keeps on acting up, I'll be back and hopefully with more data.

I think I am thinking along the same lines as Jerry; a posi that is acting up, or a locker, could cause the symptoms you describe - heck, even a messed up side gear or spider gear could do it I suppose in an open differential. Since it only occurs when turning left, I would look at the rear end rather than the transmission; if it was the tranny, it should be happening all the time, regardless of the direction.

Broken motor mount letting the engine and trans move, pulling the linkage and letting the trans go into Neutral.... when the engine falls back, the trans hits Drive again and away you go.

It's been a month, Em. What was it, or is he stuck in a bar ditch somewhere?
