I have had a lot of fun because of things I have welded up --sometimes it was just to patch a hold in somebodies combine and the welding rod used was some coat hangers or a piece of wire cut off a fence--Welding certainly has enabled some creative things in history and even today with all the billet one piec cnc objects there is still a lot of welding---pipelines, bridges, etc
Hey ---that solar flux does take alcohol, doesn't it???

We have a good friend who taught developmentally challenged kids for more than 40 years, and she kept a pet tarantula in her classroom for many, many years. I decided she needed a more docile version to keep her company....

I think you guys are starting something--maybe we should start a contest to see who can make the best art??? In these times it would be a lot cheaper than a hotrod---sorta like the 3 word thread----
that dog is made out of a auto lite plug just screwing around used allen bolts for eyes. steel stamp valve locks for ears some crank keys and lock washer for a tail and a rocker ball for a butt.i tried to base it off a pug dog but need a short plug for a body . was thinking i could make more money then boring blocks .... but i will be boring blocks tomorrow :)
well at least I now know what I can do with some of these valve springs and spark plugs, maybe even a couple hundred middle main caps--
If I only could get a vision for coi over springs and maybe camshafts, ring and pinion gears
i have some stuff coming i may do with bent valves and crank gears . not many main caps i want to burn on but i have about 25 pound of piston pin i did not scrap out hell...... Jerry go for it.. hey did i tell you i did get a D in art in school :)
The hobby TIG I bought (Miller Diversion 180) has the foot control which cuts off the torch control when it's plugged in. If using the torch it has the thumb wheel. After talking to a couple local welders they all lead me toward this machine. Said it was perfect for a newbie like me.
If I was to use Solar Flux, how would I get it way back in a tube? Does it clean out easy when your done?
I played around on sme tubing scraps tonight and was surprised how little build up was on the back of the weld without purging. No filler rod. I even left a couple 1/16 gaps intentionally. Had to use the filler rod though and there was some build up behind the weld. I assume I got the amperage spot on? If I turned up the amperage I'd have more build up? I'll mess with it some more next day or two to get the hang of things. Man I love this thing for thin metal! Wow!

you just use a acid brush and paint the joint before you weld it .most of the time on thin tube i use no filler rod if light tight they come out good the solar flux just helps keep the grapes look on the back side of the joint with stainless steel on short parts i tack the pice then hold the torch and just turn the tubing with the speed i need to get the weld look the way i want one of them deal the more you do it the more you get the hang of it
I also like the pulse timer on doing ss headers
All you need is a twin flowmeter setup screwed to your existing reg, very easy to do, I run 2 flowmeters also, the second is for back purging, mine is very similair to Jerrys.
