Well Guys and Gals,I have recovered enough from my knee replacement surgeries and been given the tick of approval from the surgeon and physio. it is time to adventure out into the dark corners of the garage and blow the cobwebs out to find the Bucket.First job was to push the car out so that I could sweep the floor etc. and tidy up somewhat. Then due to the fact that I was enjoying being out and about with no pain I decided that maybe I should shock myself and the neighbours by giving the Bmmer a wash. So with water blaster hooked up I tackled that job and then as you could see the difference on the concrete where the car was, decided that I should water blast the whole drive way.Off and on I managed that in three days due to the fact that we have a shared driveway with the folks behind us plus most of the backyard and carport in concrete. Any way while I had the side door open to the garage for the electric lead,one of the neighbour hood sway cats decided to have a look around in my garage unbeknown to me. Of course once finished for the day,I packed everything away and lock the cat in the garage. Well,imagine the smell as this thing sprays it's scent every where so I had to wait a day before a friend dropped of a cat catching cage so that I could catch the damn thing. Anyway,it was hungry and he/she was caught within minutes so it was off to the local vet to the put down. That was yesterday so today I again opened up the garage,push the Bucket back out,picked up everything the cat had knocked down,cleaned up and enjoyed the slight breeze blowing fresh air through the garage. Oh yes then I spent 2 to 3 hours drilling and taping holes in 10 mm flat for the door hinges to bolt too. And why do all the small drills from 9/64 break when you are trying not to break them?? Luckily it was the last of the sixteen holes I had to drill, so was rather pleased with myself. The next step is to get a mig welder to weld all the inner frame together so that I can work out exactly where the hinges will go.
I am so pleased with myself and oh the joy of being able to stand,walk and move about with absolutely no drugs and no pain, now if I could get a good job paying millions,I would be one extremely happy Rodder.

Whip...............good to hear you're up and around. Knock on wood at 61 yrs old, never had any major medical problems here.
Hers a tip on the mig welding..........make sure you get one that is a 220v and it can weld up to 5/16 thick metal. Doing a frame, you want good penetration on those welds.

Glad you are feeling better, Whip, healing is a good thing. Just take it easy and don't rush things, that is the biggest mistake people make.

But I gotta ask (you know I love animals ) why did they put the cat down?

Glad to hear that your "rebuild" went well and that you're able to get around full use without pain. Sounds like you had a good Doc' that knows his stuff.

Thank you guys for your comments and yes Robin, I was thinking of you yesterday when I was studying the door posts and wondering how will I attach the post to the fibreglass frame? I will be on the phone to you when I get to that stage for your expert advice.
Don,I also had you in my thoughts when I was sorting out the wild cat as I had flash across my eyes of a picture of you growling at me. The cat and one other that we,( all the neighbours ) want to catch were left behind when a family packed up and left the street and have increased to the stage where one can't approach them. But the real problem is that they spray their scent everywhere and like the other day,came inside our laundry and made it's mark. Not only that but the neighbours with cat doors had the cats visit at night time and do the same so everybody had had enough. The police man neighbour wanted to put the cat into a weighted sack and throw it into the river but I wouldn't have that. I phoned animal control and the SPCA but neither wanted to known as both of crowded with stray cats. I believe it was the most humane way of sorting the poor cat out and to this day I blame the family that didn't care enough about their pets to just leave them. hey I also love my pets but my two cats were afraid of this one and Nelson, (my blind little dog) would chase them .

Whiplash... I had my right knee replaced just over two years ago...The only problem I have is trying to figure out why I waited so long... Good luck with yours.. When they did mine I lost all mussel in that leg had to build it back up...My Dr told me if I eat ice cream it would come back faster,,,glad the wife heard him say that.

Hi Charlie,heck wish I had heard about the ice cream before now. I'm lucky in the sense that I worn my knees out running so my muscles were in good nick so to speak so the hardest part was the mental battle to remember to bend the knees again when walking as I had hobbled for so long. I wanted them replaced 6 years ago but the surgeon said I was too young so he did another type of reconstruction surgery to get abit more time out of my knees but heck,now I wish I had them replaced earlier. I checked out your basement train set again the other day and it still amazes me with what you and your family have accomplished,simply awesome.

I have a short in the inner track and can't find it....I figure winter is a good time to do that. The one problem with the knee is kneeling down.....I've found that by wearing knee pads just below the knee I do alright kneeling. Just another thing to get used to.

No probs on the framework..Can point you in the right direction..With your stray cat problem,,it can be difficult to know what to do sometimes,,cos I have been in the same position..Its not easy..

Whip, sometimes things like that just have to be done. Not pleasant, but it sounds like the cat had no real life anyway.

Now get out there and shake a leg, you have cars to do

Good to hear the knees are in good order, sorry about the cats, I love animals too, but we have one in the neighborhood, that I think every cat lover would be glad to put down, so I sympathize with you too. Hope you get back to the projects and start posting, the economy is keeping me from doing any major progress to the truck, but if I got off my keester, I could do a lot of stuff, with what I have, just need to be more motivated and get out of this funk!
