Is there any way to...
Remove the door latch assembly without removing the glass run channel?

Don't know for sure but I would think you can remove it with the window UP Most cars and trucks work that wayCharlie

Isn't the run chanel held in by one bolt (screw) at or near the bottom of it???Charlie

Two screws but the run-channel can't move because the window is in it.1951 Chevy 3600 Long Box

I am not positive about your window but all I have worked on the chanel is 2 peaces. when you remove the bottom screws it should move out of the way if the window is full up. The felt chanel will pull out of the part that is attached to the door and can be moved .Charlie

No it's only one piece. If there is no way to remove it without removing the run channel then I will have to remove the vent window, the window and the channel. Bummer!!!1951 Chevy 3600 Long Box

Yup, gotta take the whole mess out. Think of it as an oppertunity to replace all the felt and antirattle strips and tighten up the regulator - the olny downside is taht when you get it done it'll be so nice you'll have to do the passenger side too!

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
