    IMO 3:50 gears or thereabouts are just about perfect for out of the hole performance and good cruising rpms. I think you would notice a big difference in seat of the pants feel if you go from 2:73's to 3:42's.

    I agree here is the breakdown,these are +/- 1%

    2:73 @ 2350 rpm @ 70mph
    3:23 @ 2800 rpm @ 70 mph
    3:42 @ 3000 rpm @70 mph
    3:73 @ 3250 rpm @ 70 mph
    66 Chevelle 283 glide a/c 2dr Marina Blue.
    68 Chevelle 350 glide post car.
    81 chevy C-10 yanked the 355 building a 454
    03 gmc 5.3 180,000 and still as strong as new.
