I put a windshield gasket on my 34 Ford. Biggest pain in the ars that I've ever done. Took me several times and the better part of the day to put it in. THe good news was.... I had the old windshield and gasket as a reference. If it were not for that... it might not ever have gotten done.

These can be an exercise in frustration. Sometimes we find tools in unexpected places. My bride does craft stuff, quilts, paint art, collages, stuff like that. One day I see this neat looking stick like thing in her kit, it's called a folding bone. Nice rigid plastic with smooth edges, kinda pointy at one end, more rounded at the other, pic below. (yeah, I've got one of those "official" windshield, nylon type too, but this worked better and less prone to damaging the rubber) It worked great on the one I did in one of my '36s. You basically have to push one edge into the groove, then roll and tuck the other in. Once you get it started you set up a rhythm and it goes fairly easily. Lubricate with liquid dish soap or silicone. Keep an eye on location from time to time so as to not bunch it up or stretch it too much and end up with a problem at the end of the channel when you make the turn.

liquid soap is ok, but try usin dielectric grease.
Much easier with it.
