    braided stainless steel radiator hoses

Any of you try to find a braided stainless lower radiator hose that is 2 in. on one end and 1 3/4 in. on the other? Summit says nobody makes one that they sell with a 2 in. end. I just need a little elbow maybe 12" long to fit my setup. Napa sells a rubber one, but thought stainless would look nicer. As for the radiator to tranny lines, also ran into a problem trying to use stainless as the fitting into the radiator is a 5/8 -20 thread with an inverted flare. Doesn't seem to be any adapters that fit and still connect to AN fitting, though I did find two brass fittings that will work with standard line. Funny how this little stuff wastes time!
I just want to get the engine started and broken in. I guess it's just easier to go the standard route!

Thanks Pat. I going with black rubber for now, then when I get closer to painting and finish stuff, I'll go the stainless route. I will check out ebay, and p.m. you when I get closer to the stainless stuff. I hate doing things twice, but I want to get that new motor started and running!

i think i can make up the 5/8 -20 with flare .if you can not get them i have made them up before your looking at it to go to AN 6 or 8 or i can tell you how do it if you have a mill and lathe or know someone to rework the fitting

if aAN -6 you would use a edelbrock /carter fitting it is 5/8 x20 to -6 then make a insert for the 45 to seat to and your done .if the bung coming out of the header tank if the bung top is flat you would not need to seal up on the 45 you could just use a flat sealing washer like the fitting would use to seal up on the carb body

If you just want to fire it up and break it in just loop the trans lines at the
    trans.
A Ranchero is NOT an El Camino
