If you have the cover off, and you have slack.. isn't a new chain about $20 ?
just sayin...
unless I was dirt broke, I'd probably replace a chain with 1/4" or more slack..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
