    Just an update

     



    So here is an update of what I have been building hear recently. This chassis is my design and yes even the front suspension had to be severly modified to do what we do. Here is a few pics. I would love to hear what you all think. It clean and simple.

    The angle of your upper front air bag mount has me concerned, otherwise it looks like it is coming along nicely.

    Whats the concern? These chassis we build are for trucks that will lay frame with 24s up front. Thats parrellel to the lower bag plate. I just would like to know what you are meaning lol

    I would think you would build it so as to be paralell at ride hight

    Yup, the angle that your top mount is too great for the bag to allow it to work in it's normal range....The bag should not be stressed at the angle it is on as it will fail in a short time.

    No for these trucks we have 10" of total up front. This is what is needed to raise and lower the vehicle. This is what we do. The bag is a 3 ply bag and we dont have failures in these othere if they are installed in a stock frame where rubbing is an issue. I have multiple photos on here that shows the work we do.     I can understand that you have it mounted so that you get max drop , but the issue as I see it is that the mounts should be parallel at ride height---the way you have it, it can pop out in the driving area---of course if these are trailer queen, show only trucks--looks nice

    What is the wall thickness of the frame rails???and what do you use for steering box??

    You want to hear what I think? OK, here goes....

    1. I think anyone who has to dump their ride down on the frame to get attention and thinks it's cool has a screw loose in their brain and is an unthinking victim of "monkey see, monkey do".

    2. I think anyone who has to camber the tire in like that to get the frame on the ground doesn't have a firm grasp of engineering principles. It just looks max goofy to me.

    3. I think the front outside rubber is going to roll under on turns in normal driving due to lack of camber gain on bump. The upper control arms are laid flat on the frame rails side to side in front view.

    4. I think that because the upper and lower control arms are parallel to each other in a side view, that there can be no instant center and therefore no anti-dive on braking built into the suspension.

    5. I think I would rather not have my truck built this way.

    Well guys thank you very much. I like to hear much of this. Tech inspector there is a 5degree anit dive built in on the upper control arms, Next The Camber issue is set at 3 degrees static with no shims, gains 3 degrees in 10 inches of travel. Now on my other front suspensions I build the instant center is almost asphalt height. I do know what you are talking about but Dont agree with some of the statments. But that is fine I did ask for your opinion and thank you for you thoughts. Now That is how i got started 4 years ago is with the mini truckers after building quite a few race cars professionally. Just to let you all know. LOl Thank you all again.

    dif strokes for dif folks guys ... `im on here strickly as a street old style muscle car hot rodder .. we have custom show cruiser members .. we have trailor queen members ..we must accept the low rider crowd as well .. build techniques and talent levels are the same .. we can all learn from each other .. soon as i can find it i will post my favorite ride from last year of many thousands of cars i shot pics of .., found it .. it was the neatest thing when this car cruised up .. about 8 kids got out in matching club uniforms .. dropped to the ground and the radio started playing walter kronkites news flash of the shooting of JFK
