Set up right with an automatic trans it should be quite dependable for street use. If you plan to run "sticky" tires, go for good axles (Moser, etc).

Otherwise it should be plenty dependable.
It's been a long time since I've seen an 8.2 10 bolt. My suspicion is they've all blown up. Every 10 bolter I see or can pick up around here is a 8.5 ring gear. This would be something to tear into and see what you have.
