I like to use the paper gaskets with copper rtv on both sides of the paper.

I get razzed everytime I post this info ,but I use aviation gaskett shelac on stuff like that.It seals pretty good,only downside is old gaskett removal.Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

i find that if i use red gasket sealent and 2 paper gaskets on my 350 thermostat that it will not leak.BARB

have always used paper gasket with Indian Head cement

i use many things other then this 3m weather strip cement works good to hold gastets down and OMC typ M .hylomar and teflon dope on studs and bolts .i try not to use sillcone much if i do i only use it on one side of the gasket if like a oil pan gasket the sillcone will push out the gasket when you draw down the bolts so i will use 3m cement on the block side to the gasket and then go around the oil pan rail with RTV then draw it down but not to tight then let set up over night then a 1/2 turn more

Pat, you need me to teach you how to do those gaskets, my style. Never had any problems. It takes years to perfect the method. i do not dance .i just do a irish jig well i never had any leaky oil pans the cheap pans some times fit up is not to good that were you need the RTV i really do not have any problems if you get your hands on OMC type M you will need dynamite to get any thing off you glue down with it .
