CFFISHER...I think you have solved all of my problems. This is what I have been looking at:

It does not include the "four seasons" wiring that is shown in your diagram.
I just gave it (your diagram) a cursory glance but it appears to show just exactly what has been puzzling me for the past few days. Going to investigate a little further...
