I finally broke down and bought a Porter-Cable DA polisher. I clay barred then used the Meguiars #80 and #83 to remove swirls and scratches, then applied two coats of their tech wax. I used the polisher to apply everything and wiped and buffed with a microfiber towel. My paint looked better than it has since I got the car, I was very pleased. It was a lot of work though, anyone who thinks a 53 Studebaker is a small car has never polished one!
