Yeah, you really should have some rubber in there. My Kid found some neat doughnuts at a 4 x 4 shop, and they are cheap, like $2 each. Have a neat hole in the center for a bolt, and are about 2 inches in diameter. I think 3/4 inch thick.

If you don't you will regret it later with squeeking and harshness to the ride.
