Joe's right about the pickup being a Hudson, '46 or 7. Good tailgates are critical on these because of the debossed logo. Everything else can be fabed or taken from a passenger donor.

    Where did you find these?

Hey tree- what website were you on? This looks like it could be any junkyard in the south east. Ours looks a lot like this. So does the one in White Georgia. Is that where you found these? Their inventory is on the web at http://www.classiccarsrotting.com/

you guys are so lucky to live below the snow, slush , and salt. I live on the east coast of canada, we get the frost and snow, and whats even worse , is the salt air.
If i were to find those beauties here , it would be heaven.
i often threaten to spend my vacation down south with 20 grand and a commercial car carrier.with a few years work, i could retire. seriously though, mike.

    Great idea Mike!

Mike that is a great idea. But have you ever heard the expression "the grass is alway greener on the other side of the fence?" That is amply true. I keep thinking of getting a big road tractor with a car carrier and heading out west. However much better our cars are than yours, the west's are that much better. Seriously though,my uncle and I have been working at getting this done. We just bought a BIG 1960 GMC 7000 B model. Here's a site for those of you who have never seen one or can't remember them. http://www.6066gmctrucks.org/Bmodel.htm The one we got is huge. I stand 5'8.5", and the top of the seat bottom is at eye level. The thing has a V12, a 5 speed manual, 4 speed aux, BIG International rear end, and a long frame, along with a 4 speed PTO. The cab is shot, so we are going to cut up a 1960-1963 panel truck and make it a sleeper cab. With what frame is left, we will put a 5th wheel hitch and get a trailer. My uncle wants a flat bed, but I'm leaning toward a car hauler. I think his is a better idea b/c most of the cars we would be getting are broke down. You could do this, too. Or start with something a little newer.

Tree, the '52 Hornet you showed in your last pic is a home brew. Hudson didn't make pickups after 1947. The front end you're fond of is the same as the passenger cars, as is the forward part of the cab, the doors are the same as the four door sedan fronts, and the interior is the same as the forward portion of the passenger cars. The rear fenders are the same as the passenger cars, with a filler piece added to bridge to the flat bed sides. The wheelbase is 128" which was unique to the truck and limited production "limosines". Regular passenger cars were 121". The truck was rated as a 3/4 ton.

Hey Tree, You mentioned before that you like my car. That would be a before picture parked next to the truck. As Weeg said, a 1953 Studebaker Starlight coupe. Looks like it even still has air in the tires!

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
