If not it may be broke off inside, and it ain't easy to get out of there. It's been so long I forgot how I got it out, but it's hardened so really hard to get a hold of.

Thanks. I looked and I have the entire retaining pin out. In fact the spider gear axle will rotate freely and I can move it by hand in and out by 1/16" but it comes up against some hard stop that I can't push it through...
