biggest drawback to a mechanical is that the diaphram ( can ) bust and flood the engine with fuel. Usually however, the fuel will spill out the weephole at the bottom of the pump.
Can be avoided by replacing the pump BEFORE it fails.
Another nice thing about mechanical pumps, is that they pump more fuel at higher RPM, just like you need it..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
