HOTRODPAINT is correct on all points. The 2 spd. powerglide is a good choice of trans for the 283....and five sevens were originally equipped w/ these transmissions and they'll bold right in to existing mounts (fram to bellhousing). I'd check Ebay motors for rebuildable 283s and powerglides. Good luck!
