Take it from me, I dont want to win shows either, dont even go! I like to drive em. I have currently a 283. Its done nice, but is no where near enough power. Go with a nice 350 or a 383 stroker. It may cost you a little extra in the beginning, but sooner or later you're gonna want to crack those tires and a 283 will not move that weight. If the 283 is a must, then hold out another 3 months and you can have mine!
