Got my windshield installed today and finished installing my dash. Just got to wire everything up now. Speedway backordered my harness so it looks as if the first of the year is a better target date on it.
Here's a couple of pictures.

ps, almost forgot, a good friend from Ill sent me a killer taillight for a Christmas present. One heck of a nice guy. Thanks Denny.
This really came out nice, I went back and read some of your earlier entries. I love the stoplight! Here's the link on my Plymouth you asked me about a while back:

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Years, Larry.
Crazyrat - That came out great! The stop light is perfect! The winshield is very vintage cool! Nice job all around. Now it's time to play with it!
where did you get your fuel tank from
Thanks guys for your kindness. Its not ready for the first test drive yet, still needs brakes and wiring but its getting there.
GLH: The keg came from a friend who had a couple. I think I paid something like 20-25 bucks for it and had another friend weld the bungs in for the fittings, probably have around 40 bucks total in it. Holds 15.5 gal of beer...aaaaaaaaa gas.....
Larry
looks better ever time i see it. i know it gona be a hoot to drive. dang cool hot rod crazy rat.
Nice job looks like it will be a blast to drive
I'm looking for a fuel tank similar to that for my 30 ford rat
GLH,
Purchase a keg, pay the deposit, invite a lot of your bubbys over and forget to return the empty, waaa-laaa, instant gas tank.
Or just post on alot of hotrod forums what you are looking for, surely someone has one laying around for cheap.
Good luck.
remember that you can drink the beer cheaper than shipping one somewhere
LOL thanks Crazyrat I have no idea why I didnt think of that
Little update.
Thanks to my buddy Denny for the help on the door graphic design.:3dSMILE:
I got all my brake lines ran this weekend and plumbed. I now have good brakes. My to do list is getting smaller. That first ride isnt too far off now.:D
Get someone to take pictures of that first ride. We want to see the ear-to-ear grin.:D:D:D It will happen; you can't help it...

Gee, camoflaged seats!!! What if you set them someplace and then can't find them cuz of the cammy?????:whacked:
Hah! That's cool; are those boat seats? You should video your first ride so we can all go with you.
nice lookin place to park the keester!.cool crazyrat!yep, get a vid if you can. cool hot rod!!!
fits with the military theme, unless you go with olive drab canvas covers!
nice build. Gives me ideas. I'd say recover those seats with some jungle camo, would fit the 'nam theme better. Thanks for your service. Currently serving my second tour myself. Desert shield, Desert storm, Enduring Freedom.
Take my adivce guys: If you are having a mid-life crisis, buy or build a car. Don't re-enlist to the infantry!
Yes they are cool and I too think every thing goes along with that military theme. I also want to know what the seats are out of.
Thanks guys, Seat came out of an old econoline van, dont remember the year.
Little update.
The exhaust is done, ran it out the rear, no muffler...
Got the wring started with the help of a good friend. Never could do this without his help. I have a hard time wiring a lamp.....
Anyway I am keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully in a couple more weeks I will be able to take her on her first trip around the block:3dSMILE:
Larry
im itchin to see this hot rod on the road.looks awsom crazy rat.
It won't be long now! We're all waiting to see the grin on your face...:D:D
That exhaust should have a sort of high-pitched rap at highway speed; almost musical.:) Someday down the road when the other details are finished, it would be cool to split the manifold and put dual pipes with glasspacks on it. Ahh, talk about a sweet sound...
well heck , for the first time wirin one you mit expect it to take a bit of sypherin .i sure would.hahaha
Finally got the wiring straighten out and everything is working correctly now. Had one wire on the wrong terminal on the light switch which canceled the tail lights when pulled all the way out..
Fired up the engine for the first time in about 4 months and low and behold the trans didnt pump up. Pulled out the trans and found the converter wasnt all the way in the pump. Reinstalled the converter and shimmed it to proper specs and put it all back together again this afternoon. Dont know if what I did fixed the problem but it sure couldnt hurt it.
Still got a few more things to hook up but will know again by the weekend....I hope.
Been a while since my last update. Ok got the trans working and back in the car. Everything good there. All the wriing is working properly now. And today I finally finished the build..........Yea me!!!
Anyway here are the last pictures on the build.
Thanks for all who have give info and encouragement on my build.
Want to wish everyone the best.
Crazyrat
That is so cool, congratulations on completing the task. Very nice lines and you can stop calling it a rat rod now as that is top class. Can you take a couple of photos with the door s open as I would like to see how much leg room you have please. Thanks again and well done, now the grandchildren will have to wait their turn for the keys.
Way to go ! Congrats it looks fantastic.
Congratulations!!! But where's the picture of you with a big ear to ear grin???
Have fun with the new ride, it came out great!
Nice. Sometimes truck cab turned into roadster doesn't work. This one came out good. As already said Not A Rat. Now you can have some fun driving the wheels off it......................... :D
Crazyrat,
Congrats on a job well done.:) I have to agree with a earlier post though; you only think you are done.:rolleyes::)
Jack.
The rat rod idea is not different from building anything. Safe or not is the question. The point being it is all up to the person building it. I have a mechanical engineering background and have built several harley-davidson choppers. The chopper world has brought about a lot of new parts to buy instead of making/fabricating the most important items like frames and front ends. With that said it is really easy to look at many car and cycle projects and become concerned about the structural integrity. Is this safe. Are you as the builder really have the talent, ability and understand the engineering to make an item in the correct way. I'm making a general statement about this. I remember in 1971 when living in Co. with a chopped extended front end. Co. had a state law on altered suspension. I was pulled over, ticketed and the cycle was impounded. If these custom car/cycle become a problem with accidents due to poor workmanship, then more laws of restrictive use will come about.
