Am considering using polyester primer on some areas that are wavy on my car. Can some of you recommend a good gun for applying the high build stuff? Thanks

While I haven't used nor own one... a lot of guys rave about the Harbor Frieght Purple gun... I think it's like 20 - 25 bucks??? Supposed to work great for this type of job.

I got one from Summit for around $50...............it has the large needle in it for shooting high build primer. I shot my car with that primer and it worked great.

For spraying slick sand I use Sata's polyester gun with a 2.5 tip.Robert

It looks like there are several options out there. I have seen the DeVilbiss Finishline ads, and know the Sata brand is a good brand. I didn't know they offered a polyester model. Will the Summit or Harbor Freight do an adequate job of spraying the polyester? I know the Sata with 2.5 should do well, but probably will be the most expensive. I think the DeVilbiss runs around $175, but only has a 2.0 tip.

go to northern tools and pick up a vaper 2.3 . it is about 45 bucks. great gun for high build or polyester . i use it to shoot epoxy and figured it would last a few runs. 3 years old and still sprays well.
the hf purple gun works extremely well for target practice . for shooting paint it sucks. waste a lot of material .
