Did you try DennisCarpenter They have most all early Ford parts. As far as cutting along side a gas tank I have done it just got to be aware of where your at and what your doing. If its full you won't hurt it, and the cap is on. The fumes are what will explode the gas will not. I think I'd use a cut off wheel or drill a hole then use shears if you have never done this before.
