Spray painting isn't always an option, or at least a reasonably priced one for everyone. The boatyard where the 34 footer was located does not allow owners or outside contractors to spray, the quote from the yard was around $15,000 to do the job. It took me a month of weekends and nights to do and the cost was around $500.
The quality of a finished LP paint job, even rolled on, is well above what the typical $100 paint provides in the hands of an amateur painter. The LPs are virtually indestructable and hold up nearly as well as a good powdercoat finish when used for frames and suspension components. Very good chemical immunity (brake fluid, etc) so it works well under the hood.
I will use a spray gun when required/allowed by the situation. We're doing my youngest sons '67 Dodge Dart GT in a silver metalic that I wouldn't dream of doing with a roller. I'm just offering up an opinion on what I feel is a viable alternative, based upon firsthand experience.
Cheers, Mark
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
