Tatoos on the "ridiculous side" as opposed to tatoos on the backside, Dave? Originally Posted by Dave Severson Originally Posted by Dave Severson

Sorry I have a black 32 highboy with a small block and dropped front axle and you don't like it. Sorry my buddy has a "tattoo" flame job and you don't like that either, even if it is, as you say, "unlike anything else on the street". I just posted some pics to show some folks what I thought was a pretty unique flame job that's not like everyone elses. Dave, do you happen to have any pics of these high tech/cutting edge/unlike anything else/ hot rods you've built?Last edited by joeybsyc; 08-10-2007 at 08:08 AM. Joe Barr

Don't have any idea where you get that I build HiTech cutting edge stuff, but my gallery is full of pics of some of my projects. Didn't mean to have you get all upset... I got bored with flame jobs last time they went out of style. Not your car, you didn't do the work, what's the big deal anyway???? So I guess I should be politically correct, follow the crowd, tell you it's great or what???? Geez, chill out dude!!!! If I don't like something, I say so. Sorry for being truthful...Just my way I guess..... Being an old fashioned geezer is tough, ya know????? Originally Posted by joeybsyc Originally Posted by joeybsyc

Well, at least that shows that he does understand a bit about suspension and handling....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

"traditional" suspension and bias tires may in fact be very retro....or whatever this weeks trick phrase is.... I like my Hot Rods to go fast and handle like a slot car.... Maybe you can convince yourself that a straight axle and drum brakes with bias tires will outhandle a car same weight and power but with IFS, IRS, and 4 wheel disc brakes, but you'll never convince me!!!!! If it were so, then I guess all the major race car builders are confused, too???? I've been accused of living in the stone ages and not wanting to run new things, but even a geezer like me knows that the modern stuff works better in terms of handling, braking, acceleration, efficiency, and ride quality.... If the old stuff turns you on, that's just fine with me... Just don't put down those of us who choose to accept and use today's technology... I mean geez, just how many more black hi-boys with chevy power do we need to see? Tribute cars, my butt!!!! IMO it's nothing more then following the fashion trend and being "correct".

This isn't directed at you, Don. I like the stuff you and the kids build. It shows some creativity and not just a big stack of parts ordered out of the catalog!!!!

Whatever happened to creativity and uniqueness??? I don't care if we're talking horsepower or body mods...you'll have to admit that going to a big show and looking at 500 interpretations of the Deuce, and 500 more of the 33-34 body gets a bit boring... Then they all scream when Foose or Trepanier build something totally off the wall and out of the norm that wins all the big rewards and gets all the Hot Rod Rag covers and centerfolds saying it's all because of their "big name". Well, IMO they didn't get the "big name" by ordering all their stuff out of the catalog and putting together another 1 of the 500 variations of the same theme????? Not all that many years ago copying someone else's ride, and maybe using different wheels and upholstery would get you laughed right off the street!!!!!

Has Politically Correct taken over the world of Hot Rodding, too???? Is it really so important to be socially acceptable that everyone should just never dare express their own ideas in the form of 4 wheeled art???? Maybe I'm just getting old and been around this stuff for too long. I miss the old days when a few guys would sit around and kick ideas back and forth til someone came up with an idea that wasn't out there on the streets yet....then you built it... Maybe it worked, maybe it didn't. But it was something unique when it was done. When you went to the show, the digs, or out cruizin' you didn't see 10 more just like it...

Yeah, I know. Everybody has the right to build whatever they want.....I just hope they are building what they want, and not what is politically correct, socially acceptable, and totally up to date in the latest fashion trend.....(We used to call these fads and laughed at those who followed them.)

I dare you. I double dare you to build something unlike anything else on the street!!!! Should you take the challenge and complete the project, you will find that the build process is fun and exciting, and frustrating and challenging at the same time!!!!! When you're done you'll also have the satisfaction on knowing it is truly a one-off, not just another variation of the same old theme!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I have a mental picture of Henry Ford, and Adam in Hell. They are tied together by the feet and thrown over a burning tree limb, hanging face down, where they beat each other senseless for all eternity!!

OK, let me lead you through this. Mr Ford did the most to bring mass produced automobiles to the general public. Adam got bored and asked God to give him a companion. Our pursuit of Women and Hot Rods have caused varying degrees of pain and pleasure. So, their punishment for causing us all this consternation is to whack each other for all time. Now I'm going back over to the Philosopher's Forum where there is a great thread going about the true weight of atoms.
