Ay man, welcome to the boards. You will enjoy it and yes a few people here are Mopar guy's. You may get picked on about it a little but if so then don't take it serious, we like to joke around a lot here and pick on eachother. Do you live near Pelham or anywhere around there? I am going to be going to VC Tech there in Alabama but I don't know nothing about the locations there. I know how you feel about being 18 and people ignoring you. I am 17 and go to hot rod shows but I don't know ANYONE and I just walk around, look at all the cars and am the only teen there and all the old people (which is everyone almost) just look at me like I am weird... I guess they don't see many teens looking at hot rods instead of rice.

    Welcome to Club HotRod Belvedere.

I own a '54 Savoy. There are plenty of Mopar guys here. From what I've seen of them none are rude either.

Anyway I've got plenty of pics in my gallery and I'll be adding more as I start gettin dirty.

I've got nothing in the works as far as the project goes mechanically. I'm still dealing with inventorying all the goodies.

Sheesh I thought I got a deal but I think that I walked away with Ft. Knox right out from under the guards noses.

ALL the glass is present and accounted for no birdseyes cracks chips or stones in window one.

The value of the glass is enough to make it a steal alone. Found the orignal armrests.

Even the motor tranny and rearend are fully intact. Car rebounded after I put some weight on it so it looks like the springs are good too.

Anyway enough about my car. Let's hear about yours, your thread after all.

Is it a basket case? Or is it in running condition?

Are you keeping it original parts or are you going to rod it?

If you're looking for original parts take heart as ther eisn't much out there for early fat fender Mopars. But there are people out there that love these cars and hopefully with more and more interest being shown to these cars we'll create our own niche like the early Chevy and Ford crowds.

    Moparmadman,
I appreciate you reply. Let me tell you about my 54' , I recently bought it around 2-3 weeks ago and i drove it home i have every piece of chrome and all the glass is in perfect shape. Igot more than a steal and i really got lucky because the only cancer on the car is in the floor board on the drivers side right above the master cilinder you know how plymouth put them under the drivers feet.

54Belvedere, I will be moving out there at the end of next summer (about 9 months or so) and I will be there for a little over a year unless I like it a lot which I doubt. After a year or more I most likely am still moving to California. I don't know anything about Alabama so I don't know if I will like it or not or what there is to do there...
Do you have any pics of your car?

hell raiser alabama isnt great the only reason im still here is cause im in school for paint&body. once i get done i want to own a shop. One good thing about alabama is we can probaly find you an old truck and or something but when you move down you need to keep in touch with me cause pelham is about an hour.

Actually it wasn't just Plymouth. Alot of manufacturers put them there. They didn't start moving them to the other side of the fire wall until between the late 50's early 60's.

But I know what you're talking about. the only holes from rust in the entire car is in the floor boards on both sides.

In mine it's just below the dimmer switch between the rocker and the floorboard. 3 holes not much bigger than a .50 cent piece no less than a dime. it's like that in the same spot in the passenger side as well.

Someone was telling me that they now have a spray weld system that patches the holes and kills the rust. I'm gonna look it up to see what's what.

i know that pgp paint makes a really good sealer that wont let it rust at all after you spray it on

The stuff I'm talking about is liquid metal. If you look in the hemmings Motor News there are about 4 or 5 ads talking about it.

I would think that something like this would be a bit spendy but if you only have moderate rust like our cars apparently have or minor dings(my dings are passenger front rear fender behind door pillar and drivers side turn signal dishing)it is probably well worth the expense and probably a moderate one as well.

I know about the pgp stuff but I want to research what is the best before I get into it and find that I wanted something else.

Planning is the half the fun of building something.
